Grouping in categories of layers
The grouping of objects in layers allows to control their view and to modify them in a quick and efficient way.
It is possible to create and denominate a layer for each conceptual grouping (e.g. walls or quotations) and then assign common properties to the layers created. The grouping of objects in layers allows to control their view and to modify them in a quick and efficient way. Using the upper left buttons it is possible to create / delete new categories of layers, upload them / save them on disc and modify their characteristics.
The number of layers that can be created in a drawing is practically unlimited and so is the number of objects that can be inserted into a layer. Normally, one layer is dedicated to a group of objects relating to a specific function, e.g. quotations. The layers can have alpha-numeric names containing a maximum of 255 characters.
The layer property Manager orders the layers alphabetically, according to their names. When organizing a personalized layers scheme, it is important to carefully choose the names to be assigned. Use common prefixes for names of layers which contain correlated drawing elements, to unable the typing of jolly characters for quick recognition
During the drawing, the recently created objects are inserted on the current layer. It is possible to use the default layer (0) or else a layer created by the user, with a specific name. When moving to a layer, that layer becomes current and all objects created since become associated with it, bearing the layer's color, linetype and other properties. It is not possible to use as current a layer depending from external references or frozen.
It is possible to remove layers that are not used in the drawing deleting them from the layer management dialog window.
