What is devFoam?

What is devFoam?

devFoam is a simple to use application to create cutting files for a CNC foam cutting machine.
Depending on your version you will have different available features, see the Startup dialog to have a fast look at them.
devFoam can create cutting files for these Cnc Machine types:

• a 4 axes Cnc machine, where the left and right carriages are driven as a single carriage. In this case you can just make untapered cuts and use this dialog to setup the way the GCode will be created: Customize the 2 axes Gcode 
• a 4 axes Cnc machine, where the left and right carriages are driven in an indipendent way. In this case you can make both untapered and Tapered cuts (you need the Pro version to to that) and use this dialog to setup the way the GCode will be created: Customize the 4 axes Gcode 
• a 3 linear axes + 1 rotational axis like this . This is called a Tangential cut machine.You need the Pro version to to that 

2D mode is a way to drive the 4 axes where each carriage follow a path identical to the other one.
It's called 2D mode as the cut Part is an extrusion of the original 2D geomerty.
You can see an example in the picture below, where the Red lines are the Cutting Paths the each carrage.

The 3D mode instead has different Paths at left and right carriages.
