Free Parts and Tapered Free Parts

Free Parts and Tapered Free Parts

We want here make clear what we mean by Free Parts and Tapered Free Parts

Free Parts

Free Parts are object built extruding a Region along the Z axe.
In this way both faces/sides of the Part are identical. This is the simplest object you can cut using devFoam, as no Synchro points are required.
You can find here an example of a Free Part:

Tapered Free Parts   Pro  version only

Tapered Free Parts are object built using different faces/sides.
This is more difficoult to manage, as often is required to add Synchro Points. Synchro Points are a list of coupled points on the contour (one for each face) that will be used to keep the hot wire movement synchronized. Each couple will be touched by the hot wire at the same time. They can be defined by the user or automatically generated by DevFoam Pro.
You can find here an example of a Tapered Free Part:

See 'Create and Cut Tapered parts' if you want to work with Tapered shapes
